‘The show is over for me’ — Carolyna Hutchings quits RHOLagos, asks to be left out of drama

Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Carolyna Hutchings has announced her exit from The Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOLagos), saying she has moved on from the reality show and wants to be excluded from anything related to it.

Hutchings, who was part of the original cast when the series premiered in 2022, made the announcement in a lengthy Instagram post on Monday after returning for the show’s third season following a break from Season 2.

The actress said she was tired of being linked to drama involving other cast members, even after the show ended, noting that her association with the programme had continued to influence how people viewed her career, personal life and relationships.

“It is exhausting being part of a reality TV show in Nigeria,” Hutchings wrote.

She pointed out that she had spent more than 20 years in the entertainment industry, featuring in over 60 films, producing three award-winning movies and creating jobs for hundreds of people.

Although she said she enjoys acting, storytelling and being in front of the camera, Hutchings described herself as an “extreme introvert” who is selective about the people she allows into her personal space.

Addressing speculation about her relationship with other housewives, she insisted that she does not consider any of her fellow cast members her friends outside the show.

“I have said this several times, but apparently it needs to be said again: No cast member of RHOL is my friend, not on the show, not after the show,” she said.

Hutchings added that her kindness should not be mistaken for friendship, stressing that those who knew her before the show understood why some of her previous relationships ended.

She also criticised the continued association between her and the reality show, noting that the programme ended in early 2025 but was still being used to define her in 2026.

“What I find unfair is that a show that ended in the first two months of 2025 is still being used to define who I am in 2026,” she said.

The actress said she had consistently stated during the show, on social media and in a television interview that she did not form cliques or friendships on RHOLagos.

“If I have an issue with someone, I address that person directly, as I have always done fearlessly. That is how I have lived my life,” she added.

Hutchings further complained about being dragged into disputes involving other cast members, alleging that videos and social media posts unrelated to the show were sometimes used to associate her with controversies involving the housewives.

She therefore urged the public and bloggers to stop linking her to the personal lives, disagreements and activities of other cast members.

“The show is over for me. I have moved on,” she declared.

“I am living my life. I am doing what I love. I am happy. I am enjoying my reality. I am building a legacy my children will be proud of.”

Describing her time on RHOLagos as a chapter she enjoyed, Hutchings said she had now closed that chapter and was looking forward to a new phase of her life.

“The show was a chapter of my life that I enjoyed. That chapter is closed. It is a new dawn, and I believe it is leading to something even more beautiful,” she said.

However, the actress did not completely rule out returning to the show in the future, saying the decision would be hers if she chose to come back.

“If I decide to return for another season, trust me, I will deliver excellently, as I always do whether as the saint or the villain,” she said.

Hutchings also expressed appreciation to the producers, Showmax and Africa Magic for giving her the opportunity to be part of the franchise, describing her experience on the maiden edition and third season as memorable.

She concluded by asking the public to respect her decision to move on from the reality show.

“But for now… let me enjoy my reality in peace,” she said.

“Leave me out of the drama.”
